Insert Catchy Title Here

Hooray for Friday!

This week really flew by.  Well, up until this morning.  It seems to be really dragging!  I chalk that up to being up almost an hour earlier than I usually am, getting to work for a morning meeting and the fact that there's snow (yes, SNOW!) all over my outside Fall decorations.  I'm just not ready for this winter business!

ONE
The week started off on a great foot!  Bella and I headed down to the barn, she played with the Jolly Ball while I rode Louie.  With horse shows being over 'til next Spring I've slacked off a bit with my riding, but I have to get rides in when the weather is decent!  Last Winter we days when it was -40 degrees with the windchill and this girl doesn't ride in that sort of weather!

TWO
On Monday I started a new workout video series that is part of the Advocare product line-up.  I've really like the videos so far, but there's one guy in the DVD who's entirely too peppy at 5 o'clock in the morning in my opinion.  I may resort to muting the TV to get through that particular video!  Bella really enjoys our morning workouts too!

THREE
Last night Matt made supper and according to the recipe all the goodies were to go in a large 12" skillet, then into the oven to finish cooking.  We love our Pampered Chef cookware for this sort of thing because it goes from stove top to in the oven seamlessly.  Well long story short, I was doing some things around the house and Matt had taken the skillet out of the oven and set it on top of the stove.  I walked by and was irritated that he left the handle sticking out where someone might bump into it, so I grabbed the damn thing with my bear hand... forgetting it just came out of a 450 degree oven!!!  Insert expletives here.  I spent the rest of the evening icing the burn and this morning it isn't feeling too bad, but it's definitely tender!

FOUR
And to reward myself for the bravery exhibited above, I plan on treating myself to some Starbucks today!  I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to "Share Joy" or just drink the second one myself...

FIVE
Sunday afternoon is my monthly book club meeting.  Our book for November was called The Perfume Collector.  I requested the book from the library about 2 weeks ago and just got it Monday night, but thankfully it's quite good and I'm cruising through it!  Be watching for a review here soon!

Books, Books and More Books #blogtober14

As an avid reader, I use Goodreads to track what I've read and whether or not I liked the book or not.  I have bookshelves dedicated to books I have read, want to read and one shelf just for books I couldn't get through.  Life of Pi, kill me know.

I wouldn't say I have a specific type of book that I typically fall into, but since creating a book club with some girlfriends I'm definitely learning more about and reading books from all different genres.  We've read memoirs, classics, historic fiction and best sellers.  I've even blogged about some of the books we've read (here, here and here) and enjoyed if you're looking for a couple suggestions!

Picking just one book for today's #blogtober14 prompt is just hard.  I have more than 20 books that I have given a five star review of...  So I'm bucking the rules and listing more than one!  Rebel without a cause, right here.

In no specific order here are just a few of my faves:
Marley and Me: Life and Love With The World's Worst Dog.  I was a mess of tears finishing this one!
Orphan Train
Tuck Everlasting
Attachments
Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption. Wow.  Just wow.
The Hunger Games Trilogy
Still Alice
The Help
Water For Elephants
Harry Potter, #1-7.  It's true, I'm a Potterhead!
To Kill A Mockingbird
Half Broke Horses
The Forgotten Garden

What are some of your favorite books?  Do we have any cross-overs?

Five on Friday v.16

Hiya everybody!  Isn't Friday just the best?!?!  This week didn't suck, but Friday is always a welcome sight no matter what.  Shockingly, we have a pretty empty calendar this weekend and I'm looking forward to some down time in the hammock or maybe even an impromptu date night with Matt?

My five things for today's Five on Friday are just a few things that either a) I'm looking forward to or b) something I'd like to accomplish this weekend.

ONE:
Tickets for the National Finals Rodeo go on sale this time next week!  We're headed back to
Las Vegas this winter.

TWO:
My pal Maggie and I are taking her new horse to a show and I'll be going back to my barrel racing roots!  Although Six is enjoying his well deserved retirement I do miss 'chasin' cans'!

THREE:
After spending all last weekend making food for the graduation party I have got to catch up on a few things at home like laundry, yard work and house cleaning.  Real exciting stuff.

FOUR:
As a reward for all the boring tasks mentioned above, I hope to spend several hours in the hammock catching some rays and reading my new book.

Have you read The End of Your Life Book Club?  I'm finding it to be a relatively quick read that delivers a great message!

FIVE:
In addition to reading in the hammock this weekend, there's no doubt in my mind I'll also be doing some daydreaming about my trip out to New Jersey next month.  I'm headed out to visit some friends for a few days and spend the holiday on the water at Toms River!

With a view like this, it's cool they're Yankee fans!

What are you up to this weekend?  Are you traveling, being productive or just relaxing?
