Five Faves From My 30 By 30

In lieu of rehashing what I didn't get accomplished in my 30 by 30 quest, because that's sorta depressing and it's Friday so I don't want to be I've selected five of my favorite things that I DID complete!

In no particular order my five faves are:

Masters Degree
27.  Complete my master's degree!  One of the perks of my current job was having the opportunity to go back to school for FREE and get my MS.  There was a short pause in the process, due to some downsizing, but everything worked out in the end.

Ocho Rios
8.  Go on our honeymoon {finally}.  We had to put it off after the wedding because of the 'short pause' mentioned above.  Thankfully, it also panned out and we had a great time in Ocho Rios.

2013 Christmas Card
1.  Mail Christmas cards.  I officially LOVE selecting the pictures and template for our {now annual} Christmas card.  I'm so glad I put this one on the list because I know I'll enjoy it for years to come!

26.  Learn how to drive a stick shift.  Are you thinking, "Wait?  What?  You grew up on a farm.  How is that possible?"

Well here's the scoop.  Yes, I grew up on a farm.  I can drive a tractor, combine or an automatic grain truck, but I never learned to drive a stick in all my years on the farm.  That's not to say that my dad didn't try to teach me!  There were many times we'd set off down the gravel road for a lesson for it to only end in yelling and tears!  If you want to believe the tears were from my dad, go ahead!  He can take it.

The story of me learning to drive a stick shift goes like this... I bought a manual transmission Jetta without knowing it was a manual!  And I finally learned how to drive a stick.  I firmly believe I was successful in the venture only because my dad nor my husband were the one teaching me!

1st Visit Pin
9.  Go to Disneyland.  It was MAGICAL!

Lets quickly go back to the stuff that wasn't completed on my list.  Back in January, I summarized five items on my list that I wasn't sure I'd be completing before my birthday.  And wouldn't you know it, I was right.  There are certainly a few others on my list that didn't get completed {I'm looking at you, learn to water ski} but, I'm in the process of completing my 101 in 1001 and some of those items will be carrying over to the next list.

Stay tuned for updates!

Do you have a 30 by 30, 101 in 1001 or some other sort of 'life list' of things you want to complete?  If so, I'd love to hear about some of your goals!

  1. How fun! It looks like you accomplished quite a lot. :)
Girl, I grew up on a farm, too and I don't know how to drive a stick shift. I do also know how to drive a tractor, but that's just different!

  2. This is fun! I definitely need to put together a 30 by 30 since I don't have too much longer before I meet that milestone. I loved all the ones you met!

  3. Look at all you accomplished! That's great =) Happy Friday!

  4. I've never heard of a 30 by 30... Oh man.. maybe next year (after I turn 30).. I'll do a 31 by 31.. Tell me more about this.. is it an anything goes thing?

  5. Great accomplishments! Ok, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who couldn't drive a stick shift! I've been taught many times but never had enough practice. This may need to make it on my list, soon!

  6. I'd say you accomplished a lot girl! Way to go! Ya'll have a great weekend! xoxo

  7. Completing your Master's degree is huge! I'd say you got a lot done!

  8. I grew up on a farm and don't know how to drive most of the vehicles mentioned! At one time I could kind of drive a bobcat, but that was on my dad's lap, so I don't count it! Love your Christmas card! Cute. Have a great weekend!

  9. Yea for you Myla! I did a 51 in 501 and completed the majority of my ideas. There is always going to be something we would like to do and can't. Keep putting those things on the list, you never know what direction life will take.

Congrats on your Master's Degree and that you get to use it.

  10. What great accomplishments! We didn't do Christmas cards last year, but I definitely want to get into a routine of doing it this year-- I might need to start looking now-- it will be December before we know it! I love the 101 in 1001 and 30 by 30 lists but I can never come up with enough things-- I'll have to check yours out :)

  11. This was a great way to think about it and approach the post!! I have a 101 in 1001, which I think I'm going to tweak a little because of the move. Happy Belated Birthday!! My dad made me learn before I could get my license...I learned driving around our yard :)

  12. Yay! Congrats on those great accomplishments! Can I just say I still have NO idea how to drive a stick! I'm literally just like you. I can drive all of the above except a stick. Friends in high school tried to teach me, my brother, my dad, Drew just tried a few months ago & that didn't go so well.... Maybe I just need to do what you did! Haha

  13. Congrats on getting some things crossed off the list! It's always fun to go back and scratch through it! I have a "bucket list" if you will, but there's really no time limit on it! Just things I really want to do!
